Prosper Partnership updates

Good Morning all

I am sending this message to provide updates on what the Prosper Team have been doing in the month of June 2025.

It is really important that we listen to what you think are the most pressing issues within the community. From the 500 + community surveys that we have completed, it appears that Road Safety and speeding vehicles are the top priority. Drug activity is also something that you have raised as a concern.

In June alone we conducted 2 Road safety operations within Nelson and Brierfield, that were really impactive. A growing concern is that Children are not in the correct seats. To remind you, a child has to be 12 years old or over 135 cm to be in a normal seat. If not, they need to be in a booster seat. There is an offence that carries 3 points on your licence if you dont adhere to this. Please be mindful of this and it is the adult who is responsible for making sure that this is correct.

We have executed 2 drugs warrants. One was a negative but the other on Garrick street Nelson saw 2 arrested and a quantity of cash and drugs recovered. This was solely down to the community informing us what was going on at the address. Please report to us if you have concerns over drug activity. We will not tolerate it so why should you.

The team have also been out checking address where information has come in to suggest Modern slavery or exploitation is taking place. This ultimately is houses being used as Brothels within our area and females are being either trafficked or exploited. Fortunately the addresses we checked last week were all in order. Again, if you have any concerns, report it to us. We have been out in the hotspot areas stop searching those that we have grounds to.

We have worked with Trading standards where we attended a shop and seized a large amount of illicit cigarettes and vapes as well as a large amount of cash. Illegal vapes and cigarettes are featuring more often and would you want to use or inhale something that you don't know what it contains. There will be more shops making large amounts of money from this illegally so let us know.

All in all it has been a positive month and we look forward to July where we will be prioritising what our communities need.

Many thanks
